The completely new Mauritius International Airport, often known as SSR International Airport, is now fully operating.
A contemporary passenger terminal at SSR International Airport with a total surface area of 57,000 m2 will be capable of handling 4 million passengers per year. The airport is located near Plaine Magnien, in the southeast of Mauritius. An environmentally friendly airport that aligns with Mauritius’ new vision, featuring glass and steel design, solar energy collection via photovoltaic cells, rainwater recovery, and green space within the facility. The new terminal features 52 check-in desks, five boarding gates, one of which is A380 compatible, 26 immigration counters, five telescopic passenger boarding bridges, five baggage claim carousels, a new aircraft parking area, and a landside car park in front of the building. The new Terminal cost roughly 260 million USD. With this innovative project, Mauritius hopes to become the center for long-haul flights across the Indian Ocean, providing a superior customer experience and the potential to welcome larger planes in greater numbers.
